Some good news and bad:  DIK Containers are usually loaded on Tuesdays, the day of our Rotary Hawthorn lunches.

However we have no meeting on the second Tuesday of every month, which means some members may be able to help on Tuesday 9th February.

Bob Glindemann tells the story:

We are back in operation at the DIK store after the Christmas/New Year break and all of our COVID closures and disruptions.

Over the next couple of weeks we are pleased that a number of the delayed containers will get away. There have been significant disruptions to shipping schedules and the ongoing availability of containers. Frequently shipping slots have been cancelled or deferred and this has given us some real challenges in being able to plan sensible loading days. So it has reached a point where we take whatever we can get.

The following slots are now confirmed:-

Berbera ( Somaliland) for R C Richmond to be filled on Tuesday 2nd February ( deferred twice)

Timor Leste for DIK Freight  - 2 containers – to be filled on 9th February ( one previously deferred)

Berbera ( Somaliland) for R C Footscray to be filled on 16th February ( deferred twice) and

Samoa for R C Waverley also to be filled on 16th February.

Where we have two containers to be filled on the same day, we will appreciate some additional hands to ease the workload for our regular volunteers This is particularly so in February when the temperatures can often climb into the thirties.

Can we get a few more hands to help on the particular days above?

Please tell Noel McInnes 0418 310 007  or Gordon Cheyne  0417 583 803 if you can help on 9th Feb.

Incidentally, a DIK pull-up banner was prominent at Kew Park on Australia Day.  The photo on the banner was somehow familiar: the Shadow knows that at least five Hawthorn Rotarians appear in the original photo.
