President Andrew Crockett puts in a lot of thought into his "President's Post" and the occasional "Lingua File".
While he beavers away at that, your Editor sips a lazy G&T, browses the web for items to glean, then (according to his sons) cuts-and-pastes like a maniac.

How nice to welcome Dorothy Gilmour to the club - and to chuck her in the deep end by making her guest speaker. She certainly entertained us, and left us wanting more. My first impulse was to Google “Rotary Safe Families” - there’s lots to read there.

Jobs of the Future

Vocational Chairman Noel Halford presents us with another relevant article this week, as he prepares to go to Epworth Eastern Hospital for a grease and oil change. (You know, of course, that Noel and Marjorie are car buffs) Noel would easily be our most prolific contributor, although Vocational Service isn’t the easiest Rotary row to hoe. Noel even says “I will have some time to come up with other topics while I am recovering”

Many thanks Noel: get well soon.  We trust you will soon be firing on all cylinders.

On the other hand, David Rush occasionally comments on the articles in this magazine. He is currently taking a philosophical approach to life:

“I am taken with a new book and I am adopting the message.  It is entitled  Stop Reading the News:  Manifesto for a Happier Calmer and Wiser Life  by Ralph Dobelli”

A touch of Buddhism, perhaps?   Sorry, I can’t get past “Hitch”:

“Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity. The grave will supply plenty of time for silence."  ― Christopher Hitchens

How “woke” are you

Have you been asked what your pronouns are?

Everyone knows there are actually three genders: Males (pronouns he/him), Females (pronouns she/her), and Narcissists (pronouns me!/me!/me!).

Power up your Rotary Passion

“Every year more Rotarians are making The Rotary Foundation their charity of Choice and directing their dollars to power-up their passion,” writes PDG Dennis Shore in the current “Rotary on the Move”

“The Rotary Foundation is the charity of choice for Rotarians because they know that more good can be done in the world through their giving – and they are giving.”

Nice one, Dennis.

Suffer the Little Children to Come Unto Green

“In the run-up to the federal election, teachers and third-party groups are inveigling schoolkids with propaganda about the green/Left independent candidates,” said our old friend Tony Thomas of Melbourne Central Rotary Club.

Tony appeared on TV (The Bolt Report) and in the magazine, Quadrant:“Teachers say the curriculum is too crowded – but they can always squeeze in some more net-zero propaganda.”

Tony is obviously well again: should we risk inviting him back to address the club?  His latest essay collection “Foot Soldier in the Culture Wars” is available from publisher ConnorCourt

AND DON”T FORGET

On Jun 14, 2022 (Second Tuesday Of The Month) we will visit the Disaster Aid HQ & Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne.
