Dr John Watson while a UNSW Senior Lecturer in mining engineering, visited North Korea as a United Nations Development Plan consultant in 1998 and stayed four weeks, lecturing on the information technology aspects of mining engineering. His visit was funded by U.S. sources on the understanding that North Korea would cease its nuclear weapons development program. He will tell us his impressions of this extraordinary country.
