USD Athletic Director David Herbster & SDSU Athletic Director Justin Sell

The May 10 program will take a look at the future of athletics with South Dakota's flagship universities. USD Athletic Director David Herbster & SDSU Athletic Director Justin Sell will join us to discuss of a variety of topics including: players’ ability to profit from their name, image and likeness – “pay for play” and what affect that would have on university budgets; the transfer portal, the additional year of eligibility for and the ramifications on future recruiting, team size, graduating seniors, etc.; recruiting strategies during the past year, navigating COVID-19 and how COVID could potentially change Division I athletics forever.

The presentation, at the club’s regular weekly meeting, will be held at the Holiday Inn City Centre, Sioux Falls and will begin about noon. All Downtown Sioux Falls Rotary Club programs are open only to Rotarians and their guests. Please use this link to reserve your lunch that will be available beginning at 11:30 am. Face masks will be strongly encouraged for all attending. Distancing protocols will be followed.
