Child Seat Safety Program
Kim Moldowan has lived in Richmond all of her life. She has been working as a foster parent for the past 10 years and mostly foster babies born addicted to drugs. She is very passionate about children and their safety. She decided to become a certified CRST (children’s restraint system technician) in the hopes of making not only the children she cares for, but all children safer in vehicles, especially those here in the community of Richmond.
Currently she is volunteering with the RCMP doing car seat checks at many of our elementary schools, training the nurses about car seat safety at our hospital and checking many car seats from her home. There is a 90% incorrect install rate when it comes to car seats mostly due to lack of education. She is hoping to find a way to offer regular clinics and car seat education in our community. To help make many more children safer in vehicles and to eliminate unnecessary injuries caused by the improper use of car seats.
