We're trying out Meeting room 2 @ Burnaby Lake Sports Centre West again. The event description includes a map showing the location, it is just to off Joe Sakic way near the Christine Sinclaire Centre (the Old Fortius).
The presenter is a visitor from the Rotary Club of Kampala Munyonyo Uganda Gabriel Mugaruka. Bio: Gabriel Mugaruka is a Congolese human rights defender (HRD), with 19 years specialised experience in child rights issues, including child soldiers, as well as women’s rights. As a vocal and prominent activist in Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he was forced to flee the country 11 years ago, seeking refuge in Uganda. Today, Mugaruka is the Coordinator of the Uganda-based Human Rights Defenders Solidarity Network, a network for exiled HRDs, and a language teacher of French at Kabojja International School. "
Note: That that following COVID policies are a necessary part of using the facility. There will therefore be physical distancing involved and the potential for email notifications if there is an infection of an attendee, etc.
Another Important Note: There isn't a plan for catering at this point, beyond perhaps Tim Horton's muffins or donuts. Feel free to bring your own food, though.
