December 19 NO MEET

Back to the minutes:

After welcoming guests Charlie Ault and Laura Larson President Bob Beaumont called the meeting to order promptly at 07:15, leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by Pastor Ron giving the invocation. After the round of Happy / Dad dollars, with lots of happy dollars for great Thanksgiving day activities with family and friends we went to announcements.

Bill Gillespie will be starting dialyses treatments soon through Maine Med.

Our next Backpack task for Mid Coast Hunger Prevention will be Tuesday, January 24 at the usual time, 5:30 – 7 PM. Please put it on your calendar.

Ron McLaughlin passed around the sign up sheet for donating to the needy family this Christmas. If you have not done so please contact Ron ASAP.

Ron also passed around the sign up for bell ringing for Salvation Army. Our time slot is Saturday, December 10 from 9 AM until 1 PM at both entrances to Wal-Mart. That works out to a total of 8 slots to fill. With several members on “injured reserve” we need all able-bodied members to sign up. Please contact Ron.

Bob then turned the meeting over to Bob Davis for a discussion on planning for our Music at the Museum (Maine Maritime Museum) event on Friday, February 10 – Snow date is he next day, Saturday, February 11.

Planning is very similar to last year. The Hall is reserved. Music is set. Charlie Ault has arranged for John Butero to auction again. Charlie is also working on the list of items for the live auction  including using many of the contacts developed by the late Dill Paiste. Sounds like a great slate of items.

We, Topsham Rotary members are responsible for obtaining the items for the silent auction.

Bob is using the same invite as last year and is optimistic we will sell out again at the maximum hall capacity. Bill Brillant and Laura are working on the check in / check out procedures with a goal of further streamlining the procedures, and last year was the best system yet.

We will have another planning meeting Monday, January 9.
