Rotary Missions - Why we do what we do

Elias Thomas was born and raised in Portland, Maine. He is president and co-owner, with his wife Jane, of Key Real Estate, Inc., in Shapleigh, Maine.

Elias has been active in his community, having served as member and chairman of the Acton Warrant & Finance Committee, and as Acton Town Moderator. He has also served on several Boards of Directors, including H. D. Goodall Hospital, York County Community Concert Association, Sanford Maine Stage Company and is past president of the Board of Overseers of Berwick Academy.

In 1978, Elias was invited to join the Rotary Club of Sanford-Springvale. He served as that club's president 1985-86 and subsequently served as president of the Rotary Club of South Berwick 1998-99, and eventually as District Governor of Rotary's District 7780 in 2000-2001.

To quote Elias: "It's all about giving back - to the communities in which we live, as well as to the communities we may never see, but which need our support." He has been recognized locally, as well as internationally, for his charitable work and his participation in Rotary's worldwide project of polio eradication.  In fact, he will be traveling to India in February 2016.  This will be his sixteenth trip to that country to provide polio immunizations and conduct a local work project.
