Melbourne Recital Centre – A venue for the 21st Century

Melbourne Recital Centre comprises two of the finest acoustic spaces in the southern hemisphere, carefully crafted to present the best music the world has to offer.

Drawing fundamental influence from the traditional box shape of European concert halls, Elisabeth Murdoch Hall is lined with striking plywood panels of Australian plantation Hoop Pine timber, designed to resemble the back of a beautiful instrument and provide greater acoustic intimacy across the 1000-seat auditorium.

The centre offers all the key ingredients to become a global leader in the production, promotion and presentation of high quality music of all kinds, showcasing Australia’s best to the world and hosting the world’s best in Australia.

Euan was appointed CEO of the Melbourne Recital Centre in September 2016.  He came to Melbourne with a diverse background in music education, performance and leadership of New Zealand’s premier musical institutions.  Most recently, Euan was Director of Te Koki New Zealand School of Music based at Victoria University in Wellington.

Among his achievements, he has been instrumental in developing a collaborative vision for Wellington’s proposed civic music hub, was CEO of Chamber Music New Zealand and the Executive Producer of “No Man’s Land”, Victoria University’s ambitious multimedia project recorded on the battlefields of WWI with over 150 musicians from 20 countries.

Euan is also a professional cellist.
