Join us as we learn about the new California Dept of Education's "Career Pathways" initiative and how it is being implemented in San Leandro schools to prepare students for college and career.
San Leandro High School Career Pathways provide opportunities and options for students to explore high growth industry careers and answer this question. Pathways are sequences of college and career readiness courses for 10th -12th graders that focus on rigorous academic and college-preparatory curriculum. The courses are designed to develop students' core academic, technical and employability skills for their future in key areas. Work-based learning is a combination of internships, job shadows and industry tours that will support personalized real-world learning for success in college and beyond. The Career Pathway courses also provide an opportunity to earn early college credits through San Leandro High courses that have articulated community colleges.
Such Pathways include:
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Information Communication Technologies
- Biomedical Health
- Digital Media
- Academies and a variety of CTE course
Lisa Jackson, program coordinator for the project will be on hand to tell us all about it and how Rotarians can help students as they research and develop their 10-year plan!
