Kim Rathjen: Board President of Onward Eden Prairie

In here role as outreach coordinator at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Kim became aware of the issue of teen homelessness. From 2016-2017, PROP served 40-plus youths 18-24 ages years-old who were self-proclaimed head of household. Onward Eden Prairie was formed in October of 2017 with a mission of “Providing a safe place to sleep and dream for young adults in our community.” The organization rents a home from Immanuel Lutheran where qualified young adults can rent rooms for $300 per month ($150 returned when they move out). While at the residence program participants work with case managers from Oasis for Youth. Youths must be 18-22 years old at time of application.
The average stay is 1-2 years. The home is currently full with four young women. Kim thanked EPAM Rotary for volunteer (half of the board is from our club) and financial support. Visit www.onwardep.org for information and to donate.
