Members met last week for an Ice Cream Social in Crete City Park. It wasn't raining and it wasn't 90 degrees - we count this as a late summertime win! It's important to note we had the following ice cream flavors: vanilla, cookies and cream, pistachio almond, mint chocolate chip, and homemade vanilla. This speaks well for our club commitment to a great ice cream social!

Chris has been working hard on September meetings, as well as ordering dictionaries for donation later this month. This week's regular Tuesday meeting is moved to Wednesday to accommodate our assistance in cleanup at the Crete Area Medical Center Healing Garden. For those who are unfamiliar with the garden, we will meet at the main entrance for a 5:30 start on Wednesday.

Continuing with our recognition of local first responders and law enforcement, which we also did around Sept. 11 last year, the club will tour the Crete Police Department (1945 Forest Ave.) on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and take treats for officers to share. They have recently done some station renovations, which we will be able to see along with a presentation from Chief Steve Hensel. This meeting is also a visit from District Governor Mick Mckinley.
