Rotary Way – This is a beautiful- scenic drive up the mountain. The road was sponsored by the Club in 1960 when the late Bill le Barrow suggested it and with the help of Cyril Gillespie and various members the road was built by the Caledon Divisional Council and tarred a year later.

NSRI Station 17 – 1977 Graham Westcott, Mike Clark, Des Romberg & other Rotarians formed steering committee. With assistance of the Florence Carter Trust a hull was bought & fitted out by the crew. On 24 October 1878 the “Florence Carter” was named & blessed. In 1986 Harry Braun & D935 started funding a new 8 metre boat. On 9 May 1987 the Spirit of Rotary II was named in Cape Town & brought to Hermanus by road to be completed. Spirit of Rotary II was commissioned in December 1987.  Over the years many Rotarians were active in NSRI & the club & the Anns still annually supports Station 17. Tomorrow a rescue vehicle (bakkie) paid for from the proceeds of Rotary Newlands & Table Bay’s wine auctions.

Carols by Candlelight - This is an annual event which takes place in December at the Old Harbour and dates back to 1968 when the first one was held at the Hermanus Primary School. Choirs are now organised and it is a family occasion where candles and holders are given to the public who make a donation towards their cost. It is normally attended by 750 – 1,000 people.

Babbel & Krabbel Nursery School - This school made use of the Scout hall for a while but when it outgrew these premises the Club contributed towards the cost of their own building. This is now the Hermanus Pre Primary School.

Mary Denman Bursary - This is for students studying Engineering or Medicine at University and is awarded annually to Hermanus residents only. Until this bursary came into being the Club made grants to many deserving cases from its own funds. The fund was depleted in Feb 2010.

Dialysis Machine - This machine was funded jointly by the Cape Kidney Association and the Rotary Club. The cost was R30,000 which was raised over a period of 18 months. The Hermanus Hospital was the first country hospital between Cape Town and George to offer this facility to patients suffering from kidney failure. The first person to use the machine was the former mayor, Rotarian John Bishop.

Whale Watching Telescope - This was imported from America at a cost of R17,000 and erected in front of the War Memorial at the Old Harbour. The idea behind it was to generate funds for the old Harbour Museum. By 1998 this project had realised R27,000.

Tree planting – As a result of the RI President’s call to plant trees the club has planted 14 trees at the Provincial Hospital. We also planted 60 trees late last year sponsored by Trentbridge RC at various schools & public places.

Bingo Evenings – Hermanus Senior Centre – Colin Adams has run a Bingo evening for the last 6 years! He has raised R22,000 for them. Great work Colin!

Sustainable Futures Trust – With support from Netherlands Rotarians their offices at Hermanus & Gansbaai were furnished in 2016.
