The Rotary Club Oudtshoorn initiated a "river clean-up" project to co-incide with Mandela Day 18 July 2017.
We did not just spend 67 minutes on this project but spent the entire day tackling this worthwhile project.
The Grobbelaars river which flows through the town was indeed an eye-sore.
The Rotary Club in collaboration with the Municipality, the Cango Wildlife Ranch as well as the Dryland Event Management
were involved in this project. A total of 260 refuse bags of rubbish were collected and disposed of in a responsible way.
President Sune’s motto for this project was ‘’Together we can do so much more’’ which is in keeping with the 2017/2018 Theme ‘’Making a difference’’

Past President Philip Goets took the clean up Project very seriously. He was dressed in his diving suite so that he could enter the cold
water of the river to remove the rubbish from the riverbed. Here he shows one of the interesting items he found in the river.
