Shout Outs from DG Una Martone

Shout out to the Rotary Club of West York… a huge storm hit as I was traveling to the club and power went off at the venue.  No worries, this club (the smallest club in the district) went into quick action and we caravanned to an alternate location nearby and I had a great cheeseburger to boot!  A new member was attending his very first meeting and didn’t mind the disruption at all!  By the way, the Rotary Club of West York is looking for a banner stand.  If any club has an extra one lying around, please contact Club President Errick Milindi. 

 

Shout out to everyone involved in Youth Exchange!  On August 26, District 7390 welcomed 9 students.  Please join me in saying hello and welcoming Henna from Finland and Paul from Franc; both hosted by the Rotary Club of York. Kazuki from Japan is hosted by the Rotary Club of York - North. Yu Ting Lin from Taiwan is hosted by the Rotary Club of Mechanicsburg-North. Sarah is from Belgium and hosted by the Rotary Club of Harrisburg. Leopoldo from Germany is being hosted by the Rotary Club of Lancaster. Gustavo from Brazil is hosted by the Rotary Club of Carlisle. Magaly from Chile is hosted by the Rotary Club of Lititz. And Marta from Spain is hosted by the Hershey Rotary Club.  Many thanks to the Youth Exchange coordinators in every club and thanks to Linda Spotts, Youth Exchange District Chair as well as Walt Tilley, YE Inbound Chair and everyone involved in planning and facilitating an excellent welcome event.  Youth Exchange is one of Rotary’s greatest assets for developing peace and understanding around the world.  It was thrilling to be a part of our local efforts.
