You are invited to sign-up for the Rotary Club of Ladner social event, "Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner" on Saturday, September 28, as a guest or a host. Please contact Sandra O'Keeffe: boss101@dccnet.com or 604-948-9259.

A club member, with one other if they choose (partner, family member, friend, even potential Rotarian), who has signed up as a guest, is given an address of a member who has signed up as a host, on the day of the event. He or she just shows up for dinner on September 28 (change from original date of October 5). The host doesn’t know who will be knocking on their door for dinner until they show up. Also, the guest does not know who else will be sitting down with them for dinner.

The host provides the main dish and the co-ordinator advises guests, well before the event, if they are to bring an appetizer, side or dessert. For the guest, it is BYOB plus a bottle of wine for the host.

"I have found that 'Guess Who's Coming for Dinner' has been an opportunity to meet people I did not know that well and spend the evening with them. It has turned out to be a delight. We get to know each other through these fun evenings." -- Peter Podovinikoff

A club member, who signs up to be a host, advises the event coordinator the maximum number of people who can be hosted. Eventually the coordinator reports to the host how many to expect for dinner on September 28. The host provides the main dish for the meal.

It is a fun way to get to know fellow Rotarians better. Bring a guest to share the evening.

In return you will receive a meal and good fellowship. The meal could be as simple as a BBQ or as elaborate as a five course dinner. Each host will make that decision.

"I like the spontaneity of the event....the surprise when you open the door. It mixes up people in the club and you realize what a depth of value there is in sharing a meal with people that in many ways are strangers. Suddenly you have upped your game, outside of your small, personal circle, and find that it was too long in getting to know another club member better. Never boring." -- Diana Cabott Nimsick
