The Combined group of five Napier Rotary Clubs, (Ahuriri, Ahuriri Sunrise, Greenmeadows, Napier & Taradale) have completed a beautification project, which has spanned a period of 3 years.
 
This site is adjacent to the completed Rotary Pathway at the northern end of Westshore Beach. Planting was organised with Napier City Council, liaising with Jason Tickner, (Parks and Reserves Department), who selected a variety of native species to enhance this embankment and grassed area, previously a windswept location.
Initial Plantings were in May 2018, May 2019 and final planting in July 2020. Approximately 40 Rotarians from the above clubs, armed with shovels, spades, wheelbarrows & brooms, participated in final planting in last week of July. 2020.
 
Each club annually donated $1,365.00 plus a Matching District 9930 grant of the same amount, totalling $2,730.00 All Clubs are rostered on a regular monthly basis for basic weeding maintenance and watering as required.

Jenny reports a very successful planting day last Sunday with 7 members and 2 spouses amongst approximately 50 people from the 5 Napier Clubs.

Some 600 trees were planted and 3 truckloads of sawdust spread. Well done to all who took part.
