Rotarians in District 7030 have shown that we are People of Action as we share our common vision and deliver on our plans to create lasting change. We are increasing our impact through our support for Rotary’s premier focus which is the eradication of Polio. We are increasing our impact by our coordinated approach on Childhood Obesity Prevention working with the Healthy Caribbean Coalition and with the Caribbean Public Health Association to ensure that our efforts complement each other as together we tackle this health issue that affects every territory in our District. We are increasing our impact as we tackle the burning issues that inhibit the creation of positive peace in our District and we are making a difference as we tackle issues that affect our environment. We are coming together to take action that creates lasting change – across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves.

I recognize the efforts of PP Raj Jadoo who used his own Foundation Recognition Points to provide a match for Rotarians who would be first time Paul Harris Fellows when they contribute to the End Polio Fund of The Rotary Foundation. At the time of this message, thirty four members of the Rotary Club of Demerara took up this offer and threw their support behind our (District 7030) End Polio Now initiative. I am confident that many more Rotarians will have taken up the challenge before the production of the next newsletter.

November is the month when we as Rotarians focus attention on The Rotary Foundation (TRF) – OUR Foundation. We celebrate the many outstanding achievements through, what has become, our seven areas of focus.  In District 7030 we have received both District and Global Grants that have enabled clubs to increase our impact through bigger, measurable and more sustainable projects, expand our reach into the communities we serve, and enhance participant engagement as our members feel the energy behind these impactful projects.  But to receive this level of support from TRF we need to contribute as well. Join me in supporting OUR Rotary Foundation this month by making a personal donation to the Annual Fund...whatever you can afford. We have launched a campaign to raise funds for TRF Annual Fund using raise.rotary.org  Each club can participate as a team and have some fun while we raise badly needed funds for OUR Foundation.

Your District is behind you 100% as you continue to adapt and seek out the countless opportunities that open up every day. Remember to embrace your Rotary family, make sure that we leave no one behind as we grow our membership.
Friendship is the foundation upon which Rotary was built; on no less firm foundation could it have stood” – Paul Harris
Also never forget the "5th part" of the four way test – Is it FUN?
