Here are the highlights from the November 10 board meeting.
 
The Lima Rotary Club Board of Directors met Tuesday October 13, 2015.  Highlights of the meeting follow:
 
·         Attendance Report    
Rita Brown shared the attendance report for October.  Attendance averaged 45.88% for the month which is up over 3% from last month.   To-date, the club has 10 new members since July 1 along with 12 resignations.
 
·         President’s Report - David Runk provided the following updates:
The Memorandum Of Understanding between the Lima Rotary Club and the Lima Rotary Foundation has been signed by Lima Rotary Foundation President Scott Shafer and Lima Rotary Club President David Runk.  Runk asked Anne Decker to post it on the website.
 
Membership Sub-Committee – Runk indicated retention and education of new members has been his focus.  He will take a much more assertive role in the future when it comes to membership.
 
The Interact Club at Bath is doing really well.  The Officers will be attending a Club Meeting soon and will be speaking at the meeting.  In the future, they will also be asked to do a piece for the eSpoke.
 
 Rotary Youth Exchange – a couple of students from the Bath Interact Club have expressed interest in applying to go abroad with Youth Exchange.
 
·         President-Elect Report - David Frost provided the following report on the Finance Sub Committee.  
Past Due Policy
Dave indicated the policy is getting closer to being finalized.  He has spoken with Don Witter who is re-writing the revision to the Bi-Laws.  The policy will include information on the Leave of Absence option. 
Collections
Collection of Past Dues is proceeding and is down from $35,000 to $22,000. 
 
·         Vice President Report                                  
Tracie Sanchez reported on the following Service Projects:
Social Sub-Committee
The 2nd Social gathering will be Nov 10 from 5:30 – 6:30 at the Met on Main Street.  Those attending can make up a missed meeting.   This will be a way for Rotarians to connect and get to know one another.
 
Local Projects:
Dictionary Distribution   A blitz distribution was held on Oct 28th.  Approximately 15 Rotarians helped with the distribution to 13 different schools in Allen County.
 
The Fall Blood Clinic was held Saturday November 7th.  Nine Rotarians volunteered their time greeting participants and collecting money, typing labels and handing out donuts and coffee.  The next clinic will be held 5/7/2016.
 
Christmas Auction -   Phone calls are under way to collect an auction item or to get donations of $50 per member toward the fundraiser.  The hope is to have all items and money collected by November 16th.  The Silent Auction items will be displayed two weeks in advance to get a jump start on bidding.  Spouses will be invited for the December 7th event.  There will also be a contest for the most unique holiday sweater for women and most unique holiday tie for men.
 
Special Needs Christmas Party will be held Saturday 12/19 at the Shawnee United Methodist Church.  A magician will perform for the children along with face painting and crafts being available for the children.  The committee is trying to secure Polaroid cameras for photos of the children with Santa.  The Interact students from Bath High School will also participate.
 
Salvation Army Bell Ringing will be held on 12/12.  Drew Fields will make a couple of announcements at upcoming meetings to get volunteers organized.  Sign-up sheets will be on the tables at the noon meetings.
 
·         International Service Update                                          
Harold Bischoff provided the following report regarding the Cycling for Life event at the Lima Mall:
·         There were over 20 riders in the Cycling for Life event held at the Lima Mall on Saturday, October 31st. The riders contributed $130.00 toward the Global Water Project.
·         The Lima Rotary Club members had pledged $830.00 to be paid at the next billing cycle toward the Global Water Project.
·         The Club had raised $6,300.00 earlier in 2015 toward the $10,000.00 that will be needed to submit the Global Water Project application to Rotary International within the next several months.
·         The remaining funds needed for the Global Water Project application will be raised by soliciting Corporate Sponsors in Rotary during the next several weeks.
 
·         Financial Report                                                                                                                               
Treasurer Kevin Bill was not present to review his monthly report to the board; however, documentation was provided and dispersed to the board including past due accounts, balance sheets, etc.  The board was encouraged to review the reports and let President Runk, President-Elect Frost or Treasurer Bill know if there were any questions or concerns.                                                                       
 
·         New Business                                                                                                                                
Applications for membership was received for Rashawna Perry and for transferring member Lisa Hummel.  Frost made a motion to approve the applications and Bischoff seconded the motion.  Board approved.

Ehora made a motion to accept the resignations with regret.  Bischoff seconded the motion.  Board approved.
 
There being no further business, President Runk adjourned the meeting at 12:45 PM.
