Rockford Park District Update

Jay Sandine started working for the Park District when he was 19 years old while finishing at NIU.  He attended the annual job fair and was hired during the summer mowing greens and fairways at Elliot Golf Course.  He fell in live with the Park District and it's many customers.  He has worked at the ice rinks, Lockwood Park, the golf courses, swimming pools, Lewis Lemon Community Center, the tennis center, Forest city Queen and other facilities during his career and loved every minute of it.
Jay is a third generation Parks and Recreation professional.  His grandfather was Jasper Giacone who was the first Site Superintendent at Rock Cut State Park.  His father was Jim Sandine who was the Site Supervisor at Shabona Lake State Park.  Jay grew up in Shabona and actually lived within the park boundaries.
Jay was promoted to Assistant Executive Director in 2015 and assumed the position of Executive Director on June 24, 2017 when Tim Dimke retired.
Jay has an undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Rockford University
Jay will talk about the value of the Rockford Park District and how it is much more than just parks and recreation.
He will provide an update about how the Park District is achieving the community's priorities and highlight some investments being made in neighborhood parks and priority areas and why.
This is always an interesting and informative program and one to invite a guest or prospective member to join us in person at Memorial Hall to enjoy lunch and conversation or via Zoom.
Paul Von Driska will introduce our presenter and act as Rotary host.
