We recently received an invitation regarding STRIVE mentoring at SAHS. STRIVE is a Rotary program, you can read more about it here: https://www.rotary5960.org/page/s-t-r-i-v-e

A short introduction: STRIVE Mentoring is a product of Rotary. Rotary is a gathering of community members interested in doing good in the world by serving—both locally and globally. STRIVE Mentoring is one of many ways our mentors impact the community. We gather adults—both Rotarians and not-yet-Rotarians—to come into the high school and be matched up with a small group of juniors or seniors for the purposes of simply spending time together. We all know that we benefit from expanding the number of people we know and are connected to. So STRIVE Mentoring benefits the students who need as many opportunities to have influential adults be a part of their lives…but this program benefits our mentors just as much as our eyes are opened up to the goodness, opportunity and excitement that we should have for our young people. What nearly every mentor has told me over the years is that these kids are nothing like what we are led to believe by the media, by stereotype and by anecdotal experiences with them. These kids have rich stories, backgrounds, dreams and hopes that inspire all of us to stay young.
