Joe Hayes introduced our speaker:

Dr. Terry Wu received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Vanderbilt University. He has a 30-year career in Neuroscience. He started his own marketing firm over 17 years ago, giving his clients a strong competitive edge by applying insights from Neuroscience and Psychology. His combined knowledge and experience in both Neuroscience and marketing led him to the emerging field of Neuromarketing.

How do you outsmart your competition? How can you stop wasting money on mindless marketing? Neuromarketing is a scientific approach to understanding consumers’ decision-making. It pays close attention to the role of emotion, intuition and impulse in making buying decisions. Now guided by science, businesses can make their marketing much more effective by applying Neuromarketing principles, avoiding wasteful spending. Successful companies, like Apple, Google, and Amazon have all adopted Neuromarketing to boost their revenues dramatically.

Dr. Wu what influences our buying decisions – 95 % of our purchases are driven by emotion this is a large part of why we buy a certain product. He referenced new coke to classic coke as examples stating evening though new coke tastes better our we prefer classic coke because hold makes us feel.  He cited various other examples from Amazon, Pepsi and recommendation of a book Think Fast and Slow by Dan Kahneman. It was a very thought provoking subject on how our brain an be influenced into our buying habits and decisions.

In May, 2019, Dr. Wu gave a 17-minute TED Talk on Neuromarketing. His talk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEtE-el6KKs) has been extremely well received by Neuromarketing experts as well as the general public. His talk has been raising awareness about this new, scientific approach to marketing.
