The program speaker at the Nov. 29 Rotary Club of Edina meeting was Harvey Newcomb, Director of Principal Gifts for The Rotary Foundation. 
 
John Schwarz was honored with a Major Donor award at the meeting for his generosity in giving to The Rotary Foundation. Joel Jennings presented John with the honor. Congratulations, John!

President John Flynn relayed information about the successful Thanksgiving Baskets event, chaired by Michael Stanzak with the help of Mary Hustad.
 
Steve Slyce encouraged everyone to register to attend the Rotary Holiday Party Thursday, Dec. 20. The deadline to sign up is Dec. 14.
 
Jean Morrison shared info about this year's Holiday Giving Program, with gifts and donations being given to CornerStone and 66 West. Members can bring donations to the Dec. 6 and 13 meetings, as well as to the Holiday Party Dec. 20.
 
John Flynn recapped a summary of activities, followed by Social Director Renee Harberts, who shared a lengthy account of the last Rotary Club of Edina Board meeting
 
The speaker Introduction was handled by Tim Murphy. Tim discussed his familiarity with the speaker, Harvey Newcomb, Director of Principal Gifts for The Rotary Foundation.
 
Mr. Newcomb’s talk had highly favorable remarks regarding the contribution levels of our club, and our district. Our club contributed an average of $177.4 per member. Our district provided a contribution level of 16th best district in United States and 35th in the world, with a total of 500+ districts.
 
Mr. Newcomb indicated that Rotary International would emphasize projects that promote peace as well as water missions and, of course, polio. Mr. Newcomb also indicated that RI will be re-emphasizing their bequest program.
