Meeting Minutes July 3, 2014

Our new president Lale takes our club's leadership into 2014-1015 Rotary year.
 
Attendees: Aydin Balkan, Inci Aybar, Aylin Demirci, Lale Yurtseven, Dilek Zafar, Dilek Akman, John Piccone
 
Meeting started at 7pm with pledge of allegiance.
 
Lale started the meeting with a motivating speech, and previewed the upcoming year.
 
Mark your calendars!!! Due to a time conflict, we will move our meetings to 2nd Wednesday nights starting September 2014. Next three meeting dates are below:
  • Thursday August 7th
  • Wednesday September 10th
  • ​Wednesday October 8th
 
Goals for 2014-2015:
  • Our club’s Polio Plus donation goal is $400 this year. Lale will bring a big jar to the meetings to collect donations.
  • Membership Goal: 5 new members this year
  • Foundation Goal: $2800
Membership fees are due as soon as possible:
  • Annual membership due: $200 per member
  • Annual dinner + meeting room: $252 per member
Updates and Action Items:
  • Aydin will add John to email list if he’s not listed, and check if his donation is accounted to our club.
  • Lale will talk to Neslihan and see if she wants to continue with membership committee.
  • Aylin will bring a guest at our next meeting
  • Fellowship meetings will start late September
Searching for International Project Partnerships:
  • Inci will talk to contacts in Antalya Rotary club,
  • Dilek Z will talk to contacts in Adiyaman Rotary club
Community projects
  • Volunteering with Sunnyvale community services
Presidents’ project (for all clubs in district)
  • School supplies for underprivileged schools/districts
  • We need to pick a school, get in touch with the teachers and ask for their needs.
Speakers
  • Browse speaker list from District's website
  • Aylin will check with her contacts.
  • Tentatively, DG Ed Jellen is scheduled to visit in November; but this may change due to meeting day change.
 
Fundraising plans for 2014-2015:
  • Chili cook-off.
    • Dilek A will contact the manager of Brookside Community Club
    • Aydin will get in touch with Suleyman Girit to get pictures/flyer about Igneada water project
    • Dilek Z will get in touch with the principal of the school in Adiyaman
    • Tentative date: September 27, 2014
    • Lale will contact Taverna for supplying beer to the event.
  • Wine Tasting
    • Dilek Z and her spouse Naeem can setup an event
  • Movie Night
    • John will figure-out details about this
Turkish Festival in Monterey
  • We need some activity to do in our booth. Every member will bring some ideas to next meeting.
