Meeting started at 7:00pm with pledge of allegiance and introduction of guests.

Dilek reminded everyone about the district conference between April 11-13. Register before April 7th. Everybody is encouraged to attend a lunch or dinner event. See this link for more details about the conference.

Dilek updated the club about the second workshop in our series. There was only 6 attendees. Let’s advertise more for the third seminar “Brighter Financial Future” on April 26th.

We have some mother’s day cards for sale for $10 each; the proceeds will be used in Rotary District 5170’s fundraising efforts for Polio. More than $100 was raised during the meeting.

Area 8 is having a movie night at AMC Cupertino theater. It is organized by Debbie Rice and Cupertino Rotary Club. Tentatively, it will be on April 28th.

We discussed about signature fundraising events that can be open to public. After much discussion we decided to keep Turkish Chili Cook-Off as our signature event and see if we can obtain license to sell to the public. On the other hand, we will ask Area 8 about city festivals where we can rent a booth and sell Turkish coffee or Raki. Ideally we want to have a “signature fundraiser” and “signature project” as a club.

Arley shared with us about his latest initiative as part of a documentary film project called “Rites of Passage”. The project is about initiation of teens to adulthood, and mentoring them to help find their calling. He showed us a trailer of the documentary at www.warriorfilms.org/rites-of-passage
