the Beachside Gift, Parkdale will take place on Sat 5th February 2022 at the Mentone Reserve / Mentone and our club has offered to be involved and support this great event.

A little bit about the Beachside Gift

• The Parkdale Gift was originally held for two years between 1963-64 -it returned in 2018 to the same ground 54 Years later.
• The Parkdale Gift is a major lead up event the Australia's iconic event the ‘Stawell Gift’.
• The vision of the Parkdale Gift is to involve the Melbourne community, local sporting clubs, schools, businesses and the community to provide a “smorgasbord of sport” on the one day. The Gift provides a unique experience for both spectators, athletes & participants and show cases professional running and showcase and involve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
• From 2018-21 the Bendigo Community Bank Parkdale Gift has bought significant athletes, community and media focus on Parkdale with the involvement of the Indigenous communities from the Kimberley's and NT.
• Over 3000 race entries from athletes all over Australia have competed. Up to 10,000 athletes, spectators and community groups and schools have been involved.
• Total race parity for both women's and men's races have competed for in excess of $100k over the last 4 years
• Parkdale Gift won the ‘Event of the Year’ in 2019.
• It has now been held for four years.

Timings on the day

• Races commence from 12pm – 7.30pm.
• It is anticipated that the RCBMC we will be assisting from 10am to 8pm

How our club intends to offer support

• General assistance on the day to race organizers (marshalling, directions, etc)
• Assistance with BBQ (primarily over the dinner period)
• Rotary Marquee - club promotion all day
• Other tbc

• Can you please email Greg.Oshea@Holmesglen.edu.au by Fri 14^th Jan and confirm if you can be involved in the event and if you have any restrictions to your availability between 10am – 8pm.
• Once numbers are confirmed Greg will confirm the roster for members.
• More information will be given at our breakfast on Wed 19^th Jan at Cilantro

This is a great event and an amazing opportunity to highlight our club in the local community. We hope that as many of our club members as possible can be involved on the day.
