GREAT TRAIL COUNCIL - GOLF JAMBOREE HISTORY
Starting in 1980, under the guidance of Bill Zekan, former President & CEO of A. Schulman, Inc. and with the help of M.G. "Gerry" O'Neil, former President of General Tire and Rubber Company, this Tournament has blossomed into one of the premier golf tournaments in Northeastern, Ohio. Traditionally a sellout, this tournament has raised over 1.6 million dollars to help underwrite the cost for nearly 50,000 Scouts (including Special Needs and Inner-City) to attend a week at Boy Scout Summer Camp held at beautiful Camp Manatoc…the highlight of our Scouting programs. In 2021, we are proud to be celebrating 111 years of Scouting throughout Greater Akron and Mahoning Valley and want to thank you for your consideration of this historic tournament.
