On what turned out to be a perfect winters evening, 41 Rotarians, family and friends ventured into the city to experience an event not to be missed... the Queen Victoria Night Market!

A large contingent (some having to get their heads around using a myki card for the first time) travelled in by train, entertaining all those on carriage number 3 on the 1 hour journey.  Some made their way in via the Monash carpark, while others, who make this trip into Melbourne on a daily basis due to work commitments, were at the meeting point to greet us...with one (who rumour has it) who had already downed an ale or two before we had arrived!
On entering the Market we were greeted with a multicultural smorgasbord.  Plates of arancini balls, pizzas, pastas, polenta, gourmet sausages, paella,  porchetta, savoury and sweet pies, churros, waffles...and the list goes on and on, were there for us to sample, most of which were washed down with a wine or a beer.  Even though the queues which snaked around each food stall looked endless, service was quite speedy and it did not take long until we were well fed and all bulging at the seams.

This years' theme centred around 'fire and light', with toasty warm fires scattered throughout the area, a rainbow of colours lighting the venue and many art and craft stalls available, where hand-made bags, jewellery and goodies could be purchased.
Roaming entertainers, live music and even a 'flashmob' kept us enthralled throughout the evening.

Thank you to Gus, for suggesting such a great night out for our first social event for this year and to everyone who came along.
Keep an eye on the bulletin for our next social event...and make sure you join us if you can!
