Tara Wilkinson's mother, Denise, reports that Tara spoke at the Rotary Club of Grand Rapids last night and her host mum was very proud of her.
Her local Counsellor, Clare Ganderton confirms that Tara is really enjoying her exchange experience, including her new school, making friends and the different culture.
She is also learning to cope with the sub-zero conditions in Minnesota.
Tara says that she loves hearing the American accent of her classmates, who in turn enjoy hearing her Australian accent. Tara's host mum is already creating a dictionary of unique Australian sayings.
The young man in the photo above, is an exchange student from Finland.
