The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) is a 12 day residential program for students entering year 12 who are passionate about science, technology, engineering and maths.  It aims to show participants the wide variety of study and career options.

Lachlan Beven was our sponsored student.  He attends Berwick College and is very passionate about science.  He enthusiastically spoke about the practical experiments as well as the lectures they attended.

Visits to the Canberra Institute of Technology, Australian Federal Police, Parliament House and the Australian Defence Force Academy among others were included.

They learnt about critical thinking, agricultural science, robotics, quantum physics, aeronautics, entrepreneurship and what happens next.

Major companies and Universities has information stalls.  Lockheed Martin, CSL, CSIRO, Cochlear and IBM took Lachlan’s interest.

A range of social events kept everyone entertained.  Lachlan eventually wants to do Aerospace Engineering focusing on satellites.  Lockheed Martin is where he would like be.

Lachlan presented both President Mark and Mark Woodbridge from Berwick College certificates.

We congratulate Lachlan on his achievements and wish him well in the future.  He is sure to achieve his dream.
