Rotary District 5500 will observe World Polio Day on Saturday, October 24, 2020, with a program from 9 am to 10:30 am entitled: World Polio Day: Rotary’s Promise to the Children of the World. The story of polio, Rotary’s promise to eradicate it, and the present status of eradication will be traced. Greg Owen, Rotary Zone 26 End Polio Now Coordinator will offer words of gratitude and encouragement to D5500 Rotarians. Rotarian Dennis Wickham, MD, will discuss the transmission and physical effects of polio. Polio survivor Phyllis Bannister will tell us her inspiring story of contracting polio as an infant, her struggles and surgeries, and her determination to achieve a successful career in education and happy family life.
