As President Bob mentioned in his above Letter, please be sure to say hello to Dr. Walker at this week's lunch meeting.  A short bio is below:
 
James Silas Walker, PhD -  Rotary Scholar Extraordinaire!  Born in Tucson 1933 and graduated Tucson High School 1949.  Awarded Rotary Club Tucson Scholarship that covered expenses freshman year at University of Arizona.  Graduated U.A. 1953 and entered Theological Seminary in Chicago finishing in 1956.  Was ordained in Trinity Presbyterian Church Tucson, on 4th Avenue at University.  Awarded what is now known as Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship for graduate study in a foreign country and did his studies at University of Basel in Switzerland. Went on to earn PhD at Claremont Graduate School in California and then taught religion and philosophy at Huron College, South Dakota and Hastings College, Nebraska.  In 1983, appointed President at University of Jamestown, North Dakota.  Retired in 1998 and then served as Protestant Chaplain for three cruise lines.  He and his wife Nadine have visited 140 countries.  They have lived in a retirement community in Raymore, Missouri since 2009.
 
In 1965, he became a Rotarian and went on to serve as Club President.  He further demonstrated "Service Above Self" as a District Governor of Rotary in Nebraska.  Both he and Nadine are Paul Harris Fellows.
