Rotary’s Annual Citrus Drive Is Back
For 22 years, the East Greenwich Rotary Club
has run its citrus drive, having boxes of fresh oranges and grapefruit
shipped from Florida straight to EG. For many in town, it’s become a
fall tradition.
The money raised through the citrus drive has
gone on to support a wide range of local projects and charities -
Rotary's picking something special to support each year has also become
a big tradition.
In fact, the East Greenwich Rotary Club has
been supporting the Town of East Greenwich with various causes for
about 50 years. They are once again asking for support with their
latest fundraising project.
This year, they are raising money for the lights installed at Cragan Field last spring. The new lights are up – but they are not paid for. East Greenwich Little League installed and financed these lights (not the Town of East Greenwich). The Rotary wants to help them out.
“It
makes a fantastic holiday gift for family, friends and co-workers,”
said Mike Gemma, president of EG Rotary. “This year we are supporting
Little League lights. Next year, we could be supporting your
organization.”
Orders can be taken online
or you can send in an order the old-fashioned way, via the U.S Postal
Service (print out the order sheet attached, right). If you have
questions, call Mike Gemma at 996-8143. Confirmation letters will be
mailed out to everyone who orders.
Fruit will be distributed Saturday Dec. 10, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greene Industries, 65 Rocky Hollow Rd. (directly behind Basler Chiropractic).
