BIRTHDAYS
Happy Birthday, on July 27th, to Jodi Gladstone.

ANNIVERSARIES
Bob and Cathy Sloan celebrate the 21st of July each year, and, Chuck and Bonnie Sauer celebrate July 24th as theirs.

ROTARY NEWS
A warm get well wish from the whole club is extended to past president and community service director, Chuck Sauer. Chuck is being cared for in the Jane Brown building at RI Hospital. Please make sure you call first, since the hospital moves patients from one room to the next (to keep us visitors off balance). Chuck, we are all thinking of you, we miss you, and get well soon.

Don't forget Rotary PawSox night at McCoy stadium, Monday, August 16th. Please see Mike Balsamo for more details.

The club ate quickly and adjourned to the front steps of the Post Office Cafe for our annual Photo Shoot. The threatening weather held off, and EG Photo specialist, Zach Humbyrd, was able to snap several shots of our fine looking group. Thanks to Soosie Sundlun, for all of her efforts. And hats off to our president-elect, Mike Gemma, for organizing this photo shoot. (NOTE--If you missed the club photo shoot at the Post Office Cafe, please see Soosie or Zach at EG Photo. They will take your picture in their studio, and they will then do their best, with today's technology, to add you into the club's photo.)

OTHER RECENT NEWS ITEMS FOR OUR CLUB

FROM JOHN WOLCOTT, ROTARY FOUNDATION DIRECTOR
Lindsay Breidenbach was our club's Ambassadorial Scholar candidate last year. She has finished college and is doing well in establishing herself in the arts community in Missouri. Here's some recent correspondence below.
--John

Hello Mr Wolcott!
So nice to hear from you. I just got back to Springfield, Missouri after a 2 week vacation with the whole family in Ocean City New Jersey- it was a wonderful time. This past year has been incredible. As a student, I became the founder of an off campus art gallery in downtown Springfield. I worked to raise money through our student senate and to get approval from the Board of Administration.

Currently I am the Director of the Bellwether Gallery for the summer, and will be teaching classes starting next week. It has been a year of learning to combine my love and passion for the arts within the world of business and outreach. I was able to help create a working business plan and currently I am submitting an additional proposal to extend my position here at the gallery.

All I can say is that I have been blessed, and that through hard work, truly anything is possible. At this point, I am hoping to stay in Springfield for the next year, although I did graduate May. I am also an artist in residence at an adjacent gallery called Figment in which I work and show pieces monthly (and was just commissioned to make some dishes, which is very helpful in paying the rent!) I do hope to study abroad in the future, and have been exploring options for graduate programs. If you have any words of wisdom, or guidance, that would be very much appreciated. I hope that all is well with you, and I'm looking forward to all that is ahead.

Lindsay Breidenbach

Good luck, Lindsay, from John and the entire Rotary Club, and we look forward to hearing from you again soon!
