For individuals, business and organizational leaders looking to future proof themselves and their workplaces in the dynamic new economy.Look toward the New Collar Future as industries - from manufacturing to farming - are reshaped by data science and technology, traditional jobs are fast being replaced with jobs that require new skillsets.
The work future will require a whole new approach to education, training and recruitment.
This is a great opportunity for Wellington Region clubs from Kapiti across to Wairarapa to help fund this Vocational Services Initiative through sponsorship or supporting members to attend.

The inaugural WORK IN PROGRESS – Wellington’s New Collar Future Conference will be held at the St James Theatre in Wellington City on Wednesday November 8 2017 and the Rotary District will be represented as a Conference Sponsor as we are key supporters of this major Wellington regional initiative that reflects and delivers on our organisation’s commitment to Vocational Service which is led by our District Chair Liz Koh.
This Conference is being created and delivered by John Dow and Gayle Page, the Directors of the Wellington Gold Awards in association with The Dominion Post, the highly successful annual business celebration and acknowledgement which will have its 20 th birthday in 2018.
The Gold Awards have attracted the involvement and participation of over 2,000 leading Wellington region business organisations over the past 19 years and 1,000 people attend the Awards night each year.
A number of Gold Awards businesses will be involved in the WORK IN PROGRESS Conference as sponsors, supporters, presenters and/or attendees.
The Wellington Region Strategy Office who represent all Councils in the region have taken a lead support role with this Conference and Government Agencies such as Ministry of Social Development, Tertiary Education Commission, Ministry of Education are also providing support, input and advice.
Victoria University who have undertaken extensive research and collaborative studies with the Business community over the past 3 years, led by Wellington Club Rotarian Professor Richard Norman are also major contributors to WORK IN PROGRESS.
I will be speaking with each of the Assistant Governors early next week and then directly with the appropriate person within each Club to ascertain the involvement of specific clubs and to ensure we deliver the overall branding and profile for Rotary as a District and also Registration benefits for the individual Clubs that participate on behalf of their members and their local community.
