Graffiti vandalism costs millions of dollars every year in clean-up costs and in response, the NSW Government started the annual Graffiti Removal Day in 2015 to highlight the impact of graffiti vandalism and encourage people to volunteer their time to remove and prevent graffiti. Sponsored by the NSW Government, Rotary, Dulux and Southern Cleaning Supplies, the event last year, had over 2,150 volunteers remove 12,500m2 of graffiti at over 420 sites across NSW, saving the community an estimated $1.2 million.
 
Graffiti Removal Day takes place all over NSW and is run with support from a range of community organisations including Rotary, Scouts Australia, Girl Guides NSW & ACT, NSW Police, Air Force Cadets and Police Citizens and Youth Clubs as well as a variety of other local community groups.
The theme this year is "Love where you live" and our aim is to encourage people to show pride in their local community by encouraging them to volunteer a few hours on the day to remove or prevent graffiti in compliance with our NSW Government approved CovidSafe guidelines.
To help make Graffiti Removal Day a success we would encourage you to:   
  • Promote the event on your website and social media pages;
  • Identify clean-up sites and/or;
  • Encourage members to volunteer their time. 
Our aim is to not just remove graffiti on the day, but to have a lasting impact on reducing graffiti throughout our communities. To encourage this, we are offering two exciting graffiti prevention initiatives throughout the State to be a part of:  
  1. We are offering five grants to create community murals on regularly vandalised sites. 
  2. A number of local Rotary Clubs are offering to plant 100 trees to help celebrate their 100th anniversary and create green screening.
