Thus far, Tania and I have visited ten clubs and, based on this sample, I’m delighted to report the District is in great shape. The scope of projects planned and undertaken is inspirational.  Your innovation and the generosity of Rotarians is astounding! Thank you. Each of us takes great pride in what our own club achieves but multiply that by 67 clubs and the change we make by our service is mind blowing. What is really encouraging is to see the way that clubs have quickly reverted to meeting online with attendance up and spirits lifted, young and old, shy and bold, all find their voices (once unmuted).

Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ravi Ravindran writes:
“As Aristotle said, ‘human beings are social animals’, and while COVID-19 has cruelly deprived us of our natural or habitual environment, it does not prevent us from finding connections and helping others in new ways.”
Beecroft Club in addition to their normal Monday meeting, now have a 5.30pm Friday ‘drinks’ Zoom. No Rotary business, just fun and frivolity, a check in with participating members and an around the screen update on what members are experiencing and how they’re coping. These are relaxed opportunities to include; honorary members, past and prospective members, family and friends. There’s something about being online that lessens inhibitions and allows people to be more candid. A sunset beverage might have a little to do with joviality, but I can say that the 7 am ‘dry’ breakfast meeting at Gosford City was a load of fun with a highly entertaining and an informative Olympic quiz, show-casing remarkable knowledge across 2,800 years of Olympic trivia.
And finally . . .
A Call to Action
