The Rotary Foundation Placemat Project.

Tony Sheard and Charlie Andrews shared a vision.  They wanted to make the aspects of the Rotary Foundation readily understood by experienced and new Rotarians alike, so all could see how the Rotary Foundation is “Doing Good in the World”

After Tony, District 6330 Governor Elect for 2018-19, made his presentation at the Imlay City Foundation Seminar, he and Charlie agreed that most Rotarians would benefit from a visual presentation depicting the Foundation.  Recognizing that most Rotary clubs meet over a meal, dining placemats became the display medium.

Over the next several months they collaborated by phone, email and meetings, sharing documents and information. Each leveraged resources available to them.

Tony, a member of the Southampton club, provided his expertise, knowledge and detail on the foundation.  He used his contacts at the District level to verify accuracy, and secured funding to get the project on its way.   Charlie, the foundation chair of the Marysville club, engaged the graphic design team of the St Clair County School District for development of the placemats, and secured funding from the Marysville club to complete the project.

The finished product is a series of four (4) placemats, each telling a part of the story of the Rotary Foundation.  The placemats illustrate an overview of the foundation, the six areas of service, the numerical and financial impact of the foundation, and how the foundation is funded.

With the support of District Governor, Jim Schlatman, the placemats are now on a PDF file on the district website, available to be downloaded and printed for use by any club in District 6330—or any Rotary Club throughout the world.

Rotarians from two different countries with a common goal of improving the understanding and participation of the Rotary Foundation, worked together on a new project that meets every aspect of the four way test.  “Viva le Rotary”

Four placemat designs are available - Placemat 1, Placemat 2, Placemat 3, and Placemat 4 - Choose the design and theme that suits your needs, and print your own placemats.
