Rotary District 5890 will once again sponsor a district-wide essay scholarship competition for active 12th grade Interact members who are graduating in 2024 and are College, Trade or Vocational school bound. Rotary District Governor Heather Rimato has budgeted a total of $6,000.00 for the 4-Way Test Essay Contest.
Karla Christman (RC of Brazosport) has been selected to serve as the Chair of the District 5890 Four-Way Test Essay Contest Scholarship.
The 4-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonsectarian ethical guide for Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors to use for their personal and professional relationships. The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and members recite it at club meetings. Click here to learn more about Rotary's guiding principles.
The competition focuses on all or any part(s) of Rotary International’s 4-Way Test:
Of the things we think, say, or do:
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Deadline for entries:
- Students must submit their completed essay as an electronic Word document and the signed cover sheet to their HS Interact club Sponsor no later than Saturday, February 18, 2023.
- High School Interact Club Sponsors should do the following:
- Review the forms for accuracy and completeness.
- Sign the Cover Sheet indicating eligibility and send it in as a PDF attachment or mail it in separately.
- E-mail the essay as an electronic Word Document and the Completed Cover sheet to Erica Alderete at ealderete.rotary@gmail.com no later than February 25, 2023.
- These deadlines are binding:
- February 18, 2024: Senior Interactors should submit their essay entry and signed Cover Sheet to their HS Interact Club Sponsor for verification and signature of eligibility.
- February 25, 2024: HS Interact Club Sponsor should email each essay and Cover Sheet to Erica Alderete at ealderete.rotary@gmail.com
- February 25, 2024: Judging process begins.
- March 11, 2024: Judges submit essay ratings to the Essay Contest Chair
- March 15, 2024: Winners and HS Interact Sponsors will be notified of results.
- March 23, 2024: Winners will be recognized at the District 5890 Interact Conference
