Happy Holidays! Thank you all for the incredible tributes many clubs gave to our Veterans. From luncheons to flag ceremonies to awarding Distinguished Service awards, it was a full month of celebrating their sacrifices on our behalf. It was inspiring!
Hard to believe it is the holiday season, a time where needs are great and people are generous. I know many clubs help with the Salvation Army projects like Angel Tree, including our Interact clubs. Another fun way to help out underprivileged kids and Veterans is to come to our District Holiday Party on Dec 10. The cost of admission is just $5 or a total of $25 if you are a family of 5 or more (just to cover snacks). But that is not all. EACH partygoer is asked bring an unwrapped toy AND socks for veterans ( men and women). We ‘ll have an evening with Santa for this Family of Rotary event. I hope all bring their children and grandchildren to this night of visiting with one another. And this project isn’t over as the evening winds down. Santa will deliver those toys to the children hospitalized at Parkland Hospital and maybe other locations in need with sick kids. The socks will be divided among USO and American Legion, two organizations several clubs support. Please register soon so that we can have enough snacks for everyone. Thanks to the DeSoto club who is helping decorate and host. The location is the Escape Expert building in Plano, which is our new home for Roundtable, thanks to PDG L.B. Showalter! Fun and Service... that’s the Rotary spirit all year long.

Remember that December Rotary theme is Disease Prevention and Treatment month, so our association with Parkland Hospital and sick children certainly fits.

Some of us will continue that fellowship as we go to the Rose Parade to work on the Rotary float, the largest Public Image campaign in which Rotary participates. We’ll have great stories and pictures- wish us well, and look for the large Penguin knowing he can fly... as he represents the idea that HOPE CONNECTS THE WORLD.

I give thanks for each of you and the good your clubs contribute in so many way. Enjoy the fellowship Rotary affords as we do service projects and party together. Enjoy your time with family and friends. Enjoy the giving that you do all year long.

Enjoy the season as we make EACH DAY AMAZING! Happy New Year to all as we enter 2020 with Great Vision of service and accomplishments!
