Why should I care…
…about the District Match? What’s the big deal about the $100 match that brings me closer to my Paul Harris Fellow?

Helping Rotarians reach the milestone of a Paul Harris Fellow is about Annual Fund-SHARE. The BIG deal is that the more money we Rotarians contribute to Annual Fund-SHARE (aka Paul Harris) of The Rotary Foundation, THE MORE MONEY WE HAVE FOR TRF DISTRICT GRANTS in three years. The mechanism of matching the first $100 one contributes toward their Paul Harris Fellow is merely the tool the district uses to determine who is eligible for the match.  We had nearly $29,000 in the “match account” on July 1, 2021.

We have almost $17,000 left to spend.  Money for the district match comes from proceeds of the district raffle held in May. Contributions to Annual Fund-SHARE help clubs reach their Foundation giving goals as well as moving Rotarians closer to the honor of a Paul Harris Fellow. Remember, clubs whose Annual Fund giving is < $100/capita are restricted to tiers 1 and 2 of district grant funding.

The district match adds to your club’s per capita giving.  Do this: request the district match for your club (instructions sent to club presidents and treasurers last week), boost your emphasis on selling raffle tickets when they come out, and help District 5400 have more money for our district grants.  This year, 20 clubs and the district received a Rotary Foundation District grant ranging from $500 to $5,000. Your club should be one of them, if it is not already.
