Boise Sunrise supports the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights
The Rotary Club of Boise Sunrise recently delivered a check to Mr. Dan Prinzing at the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights in Boise. This impressive non-profit organization was the “Center of the Table” recipient for February 2022. Mr. Prinzing explained that these funds were going to be used as part of their human rights education program. Specifically, a summer reading and arts program is to be conducted in 2022 for youngsters age 4-8. There is no charge to these attendees and there are four of these programs planned for this summer.
The Wassmuth Center hosts ~10,000 human rights tours of the Anne Frank Memorial each year. They develop and deliver programing for human rights education for pre-school and all grade levels of Idaho schools. They deliver targeted Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for the workforce. The Wassmuth Center partners with the federal government, universities, and local government to create and deliver human rights training programs, including the Boise Police Department. They also leads cultural exchange programs with government agencies and NGOs all over the world. There is a tangible need in communities across the country and around the world to demonstrate respect for one another. The Wassmuth Center and their volunteers strive to be a source of light and hope in times of darkness. Their goal is to honor victims of hate, intolerance, and bigotry and those who stand up to confront the injustice. Every program serves to inspire and empower the individual to be an Upstander when he/she/they hear or witness injustice.
We are proud to support the outstanding work being done at the Wassmuth Center. They are just about to break ground on a new building near the Anne Frank Memorial with a goal of dedicating this handsome new facility in late 2022. Members of Boise Sunrise are supporting this project in numerous ways and we look forward to seeing this unique site being developed in this manner.
