The Canoe, an iconic Canadian vessel symbolizing respect, relevance, reciprocity and reconciliation.  The Adventure in Understanding embodies that spirit in bringing together indigenous and non-indigenous youth from across the province and the globe, to be proud leaders to share and to experience aspects of Indigenous culture to lead to greater understanding and reconciliation.  
Youth coming together in the vessel of the Canoe, connect with the water, the air, the plants, the animals and each other, building respect for the environment, for themselves, and for each other.  
Developed and sponsored in partnership together, the Rotary Club of Peterborough Kawartha, Curve Lake First Nation, Camp Kawartha and the Canadian Canoe Museum are proud to offer this opportunity to youth leaders, aged 16-18 years of age, who are willing to commit themselves to new perspectives and understandings over the course of six days as they embark in an voyageur canoe through the Trent Severn Waterway from Peterborough to Curve Lake First Nation.
