The Rotary Foundation

The Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through international humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs. These humanitarian programs fund international Rotary club and district projects to improve the quality of life, provide health care, clean water, food, education and other essential needs, primarily in the developing world. The Foundation is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.

Foundation-funded major programs in which Quincy Rotary members have recently participated include:

  • PolioPlus seeks to eradicate the polio virus worldwide. Its goal is in sight. Our club alone has raised over $100,000 for PolioPlus.
  • Ambassadorial Scholarships provide full scholarships for students to study abroad each year. Quincy Rotary support helps District 7950 select Massachusetts scholarship recipients each year and brings foreign Rotary scholars to the U.S.
  • Matching Grants allow clubs in two different countries to team up on a project, with the funds provided by the clubs and local districts being matched by the Foundation.
  • Rotary Youth Exchange Contributions by our members have allowed us to host inbound exchange students from all over the world, while also sponsoring outbound students.

Members of Quincy Rotary have a long tradition of supporting the Foundation. Currently, a number of our members are Paul Harris Fellows, with many members having earned multiple Paul Harris Fellowships; while some are Centurions and  Paul Harris Benefactors.
