Background

For the past 18 years, the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield has been proud to support physicians and medical personnel travelling to East Africa and South America. These individuals have had an opportunity to share their knowledge and in turn have gained experience in working in resource deprived environments.

 

Given the positive feedback we have received from virtually every individual who has been supported through this program, the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield is pleased to announce the establishment of ‘The Drs. Buski - Lakhani International Travel Bursaries’. The bursaries are named in honor of two Rotarians who exemplify the Rotary motto ‘Service above Self’. Dr. Julius Buski is an educator, past President of the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield and past District Governor. Dr. Zaheer Lakhani is a distinguished cardiologist, a Member of the Order of Canada and recipient of the prestigious Rotary International ‘Service above Self’ award.

 

The Buski-Lakhani Bursaries will enable post-secondary students to participate in a hands-on project within their field of studies in a developing country.
