Our second Rancho BEERnardo Festival at Webb Park Lake on Saturday was a great success. We enjoyed great weather.this year.
Final numbers are still being developed. By the end of the day, it was clear that the gross total amount of money we would collect would be in excess of $115,000. This is a club record. Gordy estimated that we had over 800 visitors attend this year. This is a modest increase over last year. The increase in attendance occurred despite the fact that there was competing event in San Diego at Liberty Station.
We will be evaluating what changes we need to do to build on our success so that we can market BEERnardo in the face of competing events in other parts of San Diego.
This event was only possible because of all the volunteers. Club members worked hard during the day, not only at the event itself, but during the setup and then breaking down the site at the end of the day. The volunteers recruited by club members from family and friends, our supported organizations and the help from a few members of the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo were a great help. Without the participation of our members and the large number of volunteers, an event of this size would not be possible. The hard work of the event committee in the planning for this event helped the event run smoothly.
