The Topeka Rotary Foundation is accepting applications to fund social service, public health and safety, arts and culture, recreation, and entertainment projects in Topeka and Shawnee County.

Jessica Goubeaux chairwoman of the foundation’s grant committee said they are expecting to fund three to five civic projects in the Topeka and Shawnee County area.

Foundation funds are provided by friends of the Rotary Club of Topeka, commonly known as the Downtown Rotary. Since its creation in 1976, the foundation has awarded nearly a half-million dollars in grants to civic projects in Topeka and Shawnee County, foundation president John Wall said.

Applications will be accepted from August 1st through Sept. 30, with grant awards to be made in January 2015. Foundation officials said collaborative applications and start-up projects will be given priority. Major capital projects, such as the purchase or improvement of property, or the construction or renovation of buildings, are ineligible.
