Emporia High School head football coach Corby Millison, who provided our club lots of information on EHS football this year, indicated that they are starting an eight-game schedule later this week (September 2). Losing several great graduating seniors, including two who played in the Shrine Bowl this summer, this team returns only twelve seniors. The good news is that they have 80 kids on the team this year compared to only 62 last year. This team is heavy in younger players in the Centennial League that has high quality football. This year's seniors had several strong leaders in front of them, and so it is hopeful that some good leaders will step up among this year's senior class. EHS has a good size front line, a three-year starting kicker who is All-State, at least one great running back from last year, and a group of six young quarterbacks who have yet to prove themselves (all sophomores and freshman). It will be interesting to see how this team develops this year.
