At our weekly meeting on Friday, November 3, 2017, President Amanda Tietze welcomed the 50 members and 1 guest to the meeting. President Amanda asked anyone with a November birthday to please stand and be recognized. She then thanked October Speaker Chair Rob Roland for his outstanding speakers he acquired for the month.
 
Rotarian Lynn Hamilton provided the Invocation.
 
Secretary Suzette Matthews welcomed the following guest to the meeting: Ken Willett (Louisville Rotarian).
 
The "Happy News" was then provided by the following:
  • Jim Molnar - In celebration of his daughter passing her exams;
  •  
  • Frank Fleischer - In celebration of his sons's "Rocktopia" production being chosen to go on Broadway;
  •  
  • Lynn Hamilton - In celebration of William McKinley being elected 25th President over William Jennings Bryan;
  •  
  • PP Dan Matthews - To encourage Rotarians to propose a new member; and to express thanks for being married to Suzette;
  •  
  • Mark Clendenin - To announce that our Rotary Exchange Student is part of the succesful Jackson girls volleyball team (and may go to state next week); Mark also asked for support from his fellow Rotarians by attending the Stark County Hunger Task Force Pallete 2 Palate Program on Saturday, November 4th;
PDG/PP Bob Pattison gave a presentation on the Rotary International Foundation "Paul Harris Fellow Challenge". Envelopes will be available each Friday for members to participate in this challenge. For each $20 donated, a member will have a chance to win a PHF for themselves, a spouse, or another person. For each $100 donated, a member will have a chance to win a night stay at the Avalon Inn & Golf Course ($200) value. All donations must be made before January 1, 2018. Drawing will be held in early January. **Please return the envelopes to the Rotary office or to Lauri/Barb and the envelopes will then be forwarded as a Club packet to Peter Apicella, M.D., DRFC 6650.
 
Rotarian James Boggs then put a request in to the members to fill the remaining two time slots for the Salvation Army Kettle Ringing on Friday, December 1st. **Editor's note: James was very successful and now has all time slots filled with willing Rotarians!
 
Vice President Mark Rojek took the opportunity to remind everyone about the upcoming Semi-Annual Health Screen and Wellness Fair taking place on Saturday, November 18th from 7 - 11 am at the Mercy Hall Auditorium.
 
President Amanda then presented the "Club Assembly" meeting along with a power point presentation reflecting the direction of the Club for this Rotary year.
 
President Amanda concluded the meeting with the following annoucements:
  • Next week's speaker will be Joe Albert, Owner and Photographer of Joe Albert Studios;
  • If you have not already done so, please rsvp for the One+One Rotary Gala Event on Wednesday, November 15th. **The deadline to register was Friday, November 3rd.
