Maureen ‘Mo’ Ater serves as the Vice President of Marketing and Development for Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, one of the largest non-profits in Northeast Ohio.  In her role, she is responsible for the advertising, public relations and fundraising of 22 different retail locations and mission programs which served more than 11,000 people last year alone. She also is the director for The Ken Weber Community Campus at Goodwill, a collaborative site home to 20 other non-profit organizations.

Mo came ‘home’ to Goodwill after serving as a Board member for more than eight years for the organization. She had previously worked as the General Manager of GateHouse Ohio Media, a regional media group that included The Canton Repository, The Independent, The Times-Reporter, The Suburbanite and About Magazine. Her other roles with GateHouse included General Manager of The Independent and Director of Marketing. Previously in her career, Mo held marketing and leadership positions at Stark County Board of DD and United Way of Greater Stark County.

She is a Board member with the YMCA of Central Stark County, Stark Education Partnership and Stark County District Library Foundation. Mo is the recipient of the Canton Jaycees Distinguished Service Award, 20 Under 40 award for outstanding young professionals and was inducted into the YWCA Stark County Women’s Hall of Fame in 2013.

She is a graduate of Ashland University and West Virginia University, with degrees in Journalism and Integrated Marketing Communications.

She and her husband Patrick are both lifetime residents of Stark County and currently live in the Canton area with their three daughters; Audrey (12), Grace (10) and Evelyn (6).
